It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of painter Satoshi Watanabe, known for his distinctive style using dots, who passed away due to worsening symptoms of liver cirrhosis on February 10.

Since his solo exhibition at TARO NASU in 1999, we had the privilege of working with him on a number of projects, including three solo exhibitions at the gallery as well as presentations in museum exhibitions. In recent years he had been inactive, and we are deeply saddened that this long-awaited update about him has come in such a way.

A memorial project presenting Satoshi Watanabe’s works once again is scheduled to take place at our gallery from June 13 to 27 this year.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Watanabe’s activities and loved his work over the years.

Sincerely,
Taro Nasu
