TARO NASU is pleased to announce 4th solo exhibition by Takashi Homma, “Fugaku 11/36・thirsty six views of mount fuji” from 8th March, 2018.
The title of the show “Fugaku” means Mt.Fuji in Japanese and the numbers came from “Fugaku Sanjyu Rokkei,(thirty-six views of Mt.Fuji in Japanese)”, a famous series of wood block prints by Hokusai, a Japanese ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period. The exhibition represents the artist’s most resent exploration about the image of the imageries, focusing on one of the most iconic symbols of Japanese culture, as 11 pieces of pinhole photos.
The artist gives a twist to the long history of Mt.Fuji’s imageries as well as posing a question about “mythology of uniqueness”, to make editions of pinhole photos by digital technology.
